I want everyone to give a warm welcome to my very first guest blogger and friend Vanessa!! Thank you V for sharing your tips for packing with us!! Hugs!!
Hey guys!
I’m Vanessa from over at (the appropriately named)
What Vanessa Does, and I’m guest blogging for Debra today. I’d love to share with you how I pack for vacation, and hopefully give you some ideas on how to make your version of it a bit easier!
I used to sit down and write a list of what I needed; like 2 pairs of jeans, 3 shorts, 10 pairs of underwear etc, but I travel a lot for work now and have it down to a fine art! I spend an hour or so putting my outfits together, then gather the other bits like toiletries, phone chargers etc afterwards.
For a beach holiday, my first port of call is to accessorise my bikinis. Now this all depends on your personal style, but I love to wear jewellery on the beach to glam up my outfit and make it more interesting. I also wear a different bikini each day – I get bored otherwise!
I figure out which necklace/bracelet or earrings will go, then choose a top to match and I pack them all together in little sandwich bags. I know this sounds CRAZY, but once I get to my destination I don’t want to spend hours trying to put an outfit together, I just want to chuck it on and get out to enjoy my holiday!
I then have a standard list of bottoms which can go with any bikini, mainly white or black shorts, denim cut offs and a pretty white skirt.
Then I plan my evening outfits – the best way to ensure you’re not taking too much is to choose a basic colour theme for your holiday wardrobe. I used to go with black/white/grey to keep it simple, but our last holiday in Ibiza I wore a lot of coral and pink as well.
Accessorising for evenings is easy; take 2 glam heels that go with everything in either gold, nude or silver. (depending on which you prefer) My chosen 2 are a pair of glam but comfy nude wedges & some strappy gold sandals. And gold or silver flat sandals are essential for those evenings when you just want to feel relaxed.
The best option for an evening bag to go with everything is a nude coloured clutch; mine has a long chain handle I can tuck in or wear over my shoulder depending on my outfit. Then for the beach I always carry a large white tote with bamboo handles.
Don’t forget to pack all the boring stuff like toiletries, phone chargers etc – my FiancĂ© has a list that he uses for each holiday so he doesn’t forget anything… and I should really start doing this again too – we forgot the insect repellent going to Ibiza and got eaten alive by mosquitoes on the first night!
I hope I’ve managed to pass on a few tips for your holiday packing, and don’t forget to come over and visit me at
